The Idea of Being in Love

 



To be in love with the idea of love is to 

Embrace JUST

The butterflies in your tummy 

And the feeling of floating on cloud 9

The “I love you(s)”

The sweet surprises 

The happy banters 

The cute texts 

The anticipation and suspense 

That comes with the chase.


To be in love with the idea of love is

An unconscious decision 

Or conscious for some 

To stay in love only when 

The axis of the universe you’ve built 

With innumerable emotional ties 

Isn’t pulled or tugged by 

Disagreements 

Tough conversations 

Distance 

Time 

Inconvenience 


To be in love with the idea of love is 

To be in love with the FEELING of love 

And not necessarily the person.

    I can't believe we get to live in the same generation as you. You write so beautifully and we get to experience it first hand. I think being in love with the idea is love is a start...it can be the genesis of something beautiful.

    I love this piece for many reasons. I'll share two.
    Firstly I love your writing as always, there's a depth to your thought process that's fascinating. It's impressive.
    Secondly, I totally agree with what you've written down! I'm at the stage where careful consideration must be given to love as a feeling and a choice; I recently arrived at, or should I say thoroughly understood, the submission that you have succinctly put down.

Love and Convenience in Friendship

  Love being an action word precludes there’s an exercise to it. This exercise requires and includes expression and intentionality. In other words, “Love get workings” To express love in any relationship is like nourishment is to a plant- water, sunlight and good soil . While intentionality is active effort done towards an end which is the opposite of convenience - whenever the stars align .  Here’s the thing, I love quality time, to be specific, quality time with myself . It’s one of the greatest ways I show myself love. But I also have friends that I’d give a kidney or an eye to if need be. This goes to show I’ve a certain depth of affection for these ones.  So even if personal time is important to me and I have a friend whose primary love language is quality time, I accord him/her quality time even if it’s not convenient.
