Easter
About 2,000 years ago
God in the person of Jesus
Stepped into humanity to be our redemption
To do what no man could do
To find the lost
Restore the broken
Heal the sick
Proclaim liberty to the captives
And make all things new
For God did not send His Son
into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world through Him might be saved.
For what the law could not do
Being weak through the flesh
He did by giving His son to die
Making him who knew no sin
To be sin for us
That we might become the righteousness of God in Him
And so, on the way to redemption
Our lord and savior
Suffered many woes.
The King of Isreal and the whole world died
And on that day, the earth revolted
The sun hid its face
And the veil was torn
From top to bottom
For the Lord of the universe had paid the ultimate price
But Jesus, the Son of God
My savior, My Lord
Didn’t stay dead!
The weight of my sins
And the sins of the whole world
Which he beared on that old rugged cross
Wasn’t enough to keep him dead
The heavy, thick 10 tonne stone
In front of His grave
Couldn’t keep him locked in
For His love had to prevail
His love prevailed
In the giving of Himself on the cross.
And low, on that third day
That third glorious day
The sun rose to meet the Son risen
The stone was rolled away
For our eternal hope had come alive
The tomb was empty
Stark empty
And my Lord and savior indeed risen!!
The King of Isreal lives
He reigns forever more
Let the praises of Him echoe
From here to the ends of the earth
For He has triumphed gloriously
Making a public spectacle of
Principalities and powers
Of Sin and Death.
He did all these as us.
This is why we celebrate!
Happy Easter!
