Shine Brightly and Beautifully

Image
The  difference between a star and a shining star is not just the brilliance at which it projects but a combination of some cofounding factors. Such as, the distance at which it is seen, how exactly big the star is, the viewer and the viewer's eyes amongst many other things.  Stay with me, four key words here, I’m about to do some cross matching with them. Brilliance , I can liken to passion and intentionality; Distance to location or positioning; the viewer to an audience; viewer's eyes , to the ability of your audience to comprehend the particular information you are sending . The preceding paragraph, I would say has given you something to ponder on. Nevertheless, I will still like to highlight a few things just to guide your thought process. Firstly, the importance of passion and intentionality cannot be overemphasized;  this in particular makes the difference between a star and a shining star.   Secondly, just like you cannot tell the color of a dress by using your ear

Attractions vs Distractions!

Image
A very wise person once told me:  " Too many attractions can constitute a distraction"  This came after I had lamented about having so much to do at hand and how I still wanted to take on more because I was and sometimes I am still grossly interested in doing those other things. So many people I would like to believe are like me though probably not for the same reasons but sometimes have a hard time pin pointing an attraction or just a couple. How do you pin point certain "important attractions" I still don't have it all figured out. But I have to an extent clarity on what to do. Care to listen? Well, I think it all comes down to PURPOSE . An important thing you must always remember is everyone has a purpose! and it is also  It's due diligence to you, your creator and mankind to discover it, work towards it then walk in it. For instance, lately, I've come to the conscious understanding  that my purpose as a Christian is to come to the knowledge of G

Happy Valentine's Day: A Letter to my Valentine.

My Dear Valentine, Is it not a perfect day to celebrate love? I believe it is, I also believe it should an everyday affair. I may not have the gift of roses or chocolates or even a bouquet of flowers to send your way but I can offer you the gift of my most sincere emotions, heart and my penmanship. Oh how I prayed within the four walls of my bathroom cubicle, that today you experience love and give love today not as a feeling, but as an act of service because that’s what love is. Do not get carried away by the extravagant display of love and beat yourself up for not getting one of those displays. Most of the times, such displays stems from a place of I don't know, " a place of proving who is who " which when I think of,  I would rather not want and probably you shouldn't too. Because instead of coming from a place of depth and genuineness and understanding, it is coming from superficiality.  Don't get lost in the high of your emotion that you misconstrue

High Functioning Anxiety?

Image
The first time I came across the term "High Functioning Anxiety" was in a TedX video on YouTube. As the speaker began to explain what the term connotes, you needed to have seen me, I was constantly nodding my head " Like woman, you get it, this could be me she is describing"  I think you would understand what I am saying because there would have been one or more times when something a speaker or writer as the case may be said something that made you say "hmmm" which could mean she hit the spot or you're dumbfounded by the level of understanding and the fluency at which a communicator passed his/her information. Lately, I have been under a considerable amount of stress (who isn't these days) and honestly it hasn't been easy mentally. I would suddenly experience a burst of strange emotions at the mention of a presentation which  I was probably not 100 percent prepared for or be suddenly overwhelmed by the amount of work I have to do and at the s

A TALE OF TWO LOVERS PT 2

So I asked Oreoluwa to write a sequel to the first part of this poem to provide perspective from a guy's point of view and he agreed.  He wrote it so beautifully and passionately you would think he was sharing his actual story! So, here you have it. Boy replies: I'll never forget The first time you smiled at me I literally felt my heart skip a beat And the first day you spoke my name You lit in me a powerful flame. Serendipity.   I learnt to love you as naturally as a baby learns to walk - Your sway, your smile, that little thing you do when you talk I fell in love with it all And you showed me your promised love in all its 7 hues The feeling of euphoria when I heard you say I love you too I’d been told life could really be good But I never knew what that felt like till I met you   The world could throw its worst at me I had you and that was all I needed Storms came and then they passed Surely this was built to last   But nothing really l
